Lilly Fellows are appointed for two years at a rank equivalent to that of assistant professor. The salary is $45,000 for the coming academic year, plus standard benefits, a moving allowance and an annual travel allowance to attend conferences. Fellows are expected to be in local residence throughout the two-year term of their appointments.
These teaching Fellowships are open to new scholar-teachers interested in the relationship between Christianity and the academic vocation and seriously considering a career at a church-related college or university in the United States. Research or dissertation topics are not restricted to religion.
For appointments in the academic years 2009-2011, applicants must have received, or will receive, their PhD, DMA, DFA, MFA, or equivalent terminal degree no earlier than December 2007 and up to (and including) August 2009.
Fellows will be recruited from the following disciplines: art; art history; creative writing; history; interdisciplinary studies; languages and literatures; music; music history; philosophy; religion; rhetoric; theater history; and theater arts.
Candidates will be asked to demonstrate their interest in the mission and program purposes of the Lilly Fellows Program and a sense of commitment to explore teaching and scholarship as a Christian vocation.
